What types of dishes can I bring into the event?
Bring any SPICY FOOD that is a beverage, appetizer, entree, dessert! 

  • If your dish is temperature sensitive, please bring needed items for safe serving (such as steam trays or ice baths)
  • We have limited power sources at the event; arrive early or consider bringing battery powered devices.
  • We will have plates, napkins and silverware. Please bring your own serving utensils, as well as gloves or other needed items for safe serving.

 

Can I bring spicy beverages?
Entries for 'Best Beverage' with or without alcohol are welcome at Spicy Bowl.

  • If you are bringing a beverage with alcohol, you must have an OLCC license, no exceptions.
  • Alcoholic beverages must be served at our bartender attended station.

 

How much food should I make?

Plan to serve around 150 sample or bite size portions.  


 

Can I grill/fry/saute/use a crock pot?

  • No deep frying in the event space: If you plan to deep fry, you must do this in the FFLC kitchen then bring out to the event space to serve.
  • You can use a hot plate to saute, or, a crock pot in the warehouse.  Power is VERY LIMITED; consider bringing a battery /external power source.
  • There is an outdoor grilling space; you can bring your own grill / smoker and use this space.

 

How hot should I go?

As hot as you want! The goal is delicious spicy food - show us what that means to you!


 

Can I cook at FFLC?

Limited spaces (eight tables) are available in the FFLC kitchen for food prep beginning at 9:00 AM on 2/8.  This space is first come first serve.


 

Can I set up my entry early? 

  • Please plan to have your entries ready by 2:00 PM; the fire marshal will be inspecting the event space and our professional judges will begin evaluating entries shortly after that. 
  • Doors open for CHEFS at 9:00 AM to allow chefs to set up and use the kitchen, if needed. 
  • Space in the event area is limited and is first come first serve. 
  • There are 12 ‘bays’ which are great for teams - a small back area for a prep table and a front 6 foot table.  A small number of these are available for pre-reservation for $500.

 

Spicy Bowl used to have a pepper eating contest…can I still make my friends suffer?
Yes, the pepper eating contest will be back!

 

Are kids welcome at Spicy Bowl?
We do not provide kid friendly food.  However, supervised children who love hot food are welcome to attend. Junior chefs are welcome to compete!

What's the refund policy?
Tickets are refundable up to 7 days ahead of the event.

 

Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?
Tickets are non transferrable.
